Why Therapy Dogs Are Essential

Zoey, the Therapy Dog

Because some life moments need the presence of a dog.

Because some life moments are a challenge to navigate.

Zoey gives her time to me when I need it most.

Zoey’s mom is right there with her being with me when I need it most.

Zoey’s presence when people see her is hope.

I witnessed firsthand when an older gentleman battling cancer face lit up with smiling eyes when he saw Zoey.

His hands and other hands reach out to touch her fur bringing warmth and smiles, as well as comfort to troubled hearts.

For those moments, they forget they are sick. They forget their own heartaches and troubles. As for me, my anxiety decreases significantly when Zoey is near.

Because in some life moments, a dog is needed. To bring the comfort that escapes many people facing their darkest hours.

Because some life moments are too hard to face alone.

That’s why Zoey is important. That’s why therapy dogs are needed in hospitals and clinics.

Because we cannot do it alone.

Thank you, Zoey. Thank you to your mom, Teri for always getting me through my most trying day.
