Say hello to this barky dog. Why all the barks? Simple answer – he’s been abused.
While observing all the fabulous nature gifts in this one section of land his barking stopped and he started observing along with me. Putting his nose where my camera pointed.
Then I got the privilege of petting him. More than once. Eventually he sat smiling at me as I continued to observe.
No, I don’t recall his name that started with an “I” I believe. I could have spent the entire day with this babe in this pasture observing natures gifts on a beautiful cloudy day.
Dogs should always have our full trust. Abuse and dogs should never be in the same sentence.
With this blue eyed babe he will never fully trust again – always barking as his protective mechanism. I am thankful for the moments I shared with him observing nature at its finest on the Llano Estacado.

He’s certainly not camera shy!

What a handsome dog. You are so right about the words abuse and dogs not belonging in the same sentence. That goes for abuse and people, too. There are too many people in the world who think it’s fun to inflict pain on some other living thing.
My dog, Dusty, is a rescue and he was abused. Sometimes I forget and if I wave my arm to fast, he’ll cower, even though I’ve never hit him. He will also tuck tail and turn to home if we are walking and he hears a loud noise.

Yes, abuse of any kind is wrong.
I’m glad you have Dusty and he has you. Thank you for giving him a loving home.
