synopsis

Cover Hi Res SandpiperIrene Hannon welcomes readers back to the enchanting seaside town of Hope Harbor, Oregon, in her novel Sandpiper Cove, releasing April 2017. Praised by Library Journal as a “master at character development,” Irene Hannon steps away from suspense writing once again to deliver another powerful, multifaceted romance that is sure to have readers coming back for more.

Hope Harbor police chief Lexie Graham has plenty on her plate raising her son alone and dealing with a sudden rash of petty theft and vandalism in her coastal Oregon hometown. As a result, she has zero time for extracurricular activities—including romance. Ex-con Adam Stone isn’t looking for love either—but how ironic is it that the first woman to catch his eye is a police chief?

Nevertheless, when Lexie enlists Adam’s help to keep a young man from falling into a life of crime, sparks begin to fly. And as they work together, it soon becomes apparent that God may have a different—and better—future planned for them than either could imagine.

Review

Sandpiper Cove – A Review

Normally, I don’t read romance novels, but I was given a chance to review this book that has an incredible cover image of a man playing with his dog on a beach.

Not knowing what to expect as I turned the first page I immediately fell in love. Why? From the very first page – Clyde made me fall in love with book instantaneously. He was a rescued dog by Adam one of the main characters in this book. Who cannot like and adore a man who rescues a dog from the side of the road after it’s been hit by a car?

As you continue reading the story it is mixed with characters both big and small that carry this excellent book to full completion. There are many themes in Sandpiper Cover by Irene Hannon from falling in love, finding yourself after a hard life, kids being influenced by the wrong crowd to even a bit of religion. The characters back-stories are told well in this book where a reader does not get bogged down.

The love story surrounds Adam and Lexie the police chief. Hannon presents it that it does not become a soppy love story. These characters lives become intertwined during an investigation of vandalism that occurred at Adam’s home, which hurt Clyde. Yes – if Clyde had died from the attack then it would’ve been hard for me to continue reading the book. What develops in the story is Adam becoming a mentor to a boy who is initially accused of the vandalism.

Hannon makes readers at least she did with me wish towns like Hope Harbor existed in real life. Ideally, most of us want to live in a place like Hope Harbor.

I know they are out there – somewhere. The overall theme in this book is that through the kindness of Hope Harbor residents you see all these characters become stronger because someone believed in them. We all need that kindness in our lives.

This book is well written making it a quick read. Thankfully, as a dog lover I loved the fact that Clyde continues to be a character throughout the book.
