This is getting interesting….
The Floyd County jail in Floydada, Texas was originally built in 1925. It sits on the northeast courthouse square.
It was built with three floors and included a basement. It was large enough to include living quarters for the county sheriff. This large jailhouse included 46 prisoner bunks and even incorporated a women’s section and a hospital ward. The jail was remodeled in 1971 with the older jail integrated around the newer architecture.
As with the Hockley County Jail – the Floyd County Jail has warning sign about talking to prisoners. Two forewarning signs are posted on the west side of the Floyd County building saying a $50.00 fine will be imposed on anyone talking to a prisoner. So – a person was fined $40.00 more in Floyd County than in Hockley County if they were caught talking to a prisoner.
