I recall the day when flocks of mountain bluebirds became visitors in February 2017 in Foard County. They are bright little blue birds and are not shy in allowing people to view them or photograph them. That is how I got this capture of a male mountain bluebird. I never knew how rare this moment was because they never returned.
This bird moment made me realize that with every wildlife encounter, those moments are remarkable and that I needed and need to pay more attention to the details of the overall environment, not just the photo op.

Happy Wildlife Wednesday, Forgotten Winds Friends!
What a lovely picture. I used to see quite a few bluebirds when I lived out in the country, but the last year I was there, I didn’t see many. Not any here in the city. When I see one, I always think of the song “Zip-a-dee-doo-dah!”
from “Song of the South.” My father always sang this with such joy.
