Irreplaceable

This lady. I want you to meet Sally!

She has been in my life as long as anyone really!

Under her guidance, I stepped out of my comfort zone of playing Jazz and grew to love Bach, Beethoven, Ravel, Mozart, and Rachmaninoff. I played a daring cat and mouse piece one time utilizing every key on the piano because of her.

My fingers were long enough and flexible enough to conquer the big chords of Bach and the darkness of Rachmaninoff.

I grew to love Rachmaninoff and Mozart because of this lady. Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata became my favorite because I could play it with my eyes closed.

She also included fun pieces for me to learn like the Charlie Brown theme.

I spent many years in front of a grand piano because of this lady.

Even though the years have changed us, she always remembers. Always smiles when she sees me. She never had kids. Her piano students were her kids.

She taught me to feel the music not just memorize it. There is a huge difference if you do not know.

Today. I was reminded I was once a concert pianist. It was because of this lovely woman who at one time made the most significant impact in my life with music.

Today, I was reminded during this chance encounter with her at Costco that there are still people who are:

Unforgettable.

Beautiful.

Irreplaceable.

Because of Sally, my life was enriched. 🖤

Thank you, Sally!

Why I gave up the piano is a whole other story.
