Where have all the gentlemen gone?

A cowboy hat hanging on a post.

A gentleman tipped his cap to me the other day in a rare gesture. His cap! Not his hat.

I thought immediately where have all the gentlemen gone?

Hats hold a significant place in my heart.

My Uncle Freddie always removed his cowboy hat when entering any place. I remember when my friend Henry and I had lunch with him and Aunt Dorris in Brownwood – Henry removed his cap and hung it up with Uncle Freddie’s cowboy hat. With that one gesture, my uncle remembered Henry forever and most importantly liked him.

The cap tipping and this I photographed within the same week reminds me of a long-lost gentleman in my Uncle Freddie. And it reminds me of simple gestures that leave lasting memories.

But yet the most pressuring question – where have all the gentlemen gone?  Are they still out there? I want to meet more of them.

Thank you to the hard-working gentleman who tipped his cap to me.
