When I was searching for concrete angels at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison, Wisconsin I discovered two sandhill cranes foraging peacefully. I never found any angels to photograph but will gladly take any opportunity to photograph one of my favorite birds whom I’ve only seen in Texas and New Mexico.

Walking in a cemetery to verify names in a database, I kept seeing lots of dove feathers on the ground that I had never observed before in the Nazareth cemetery. Then I noticed the owl pellets…. I looked up into the trees for the maker of the pellets. What I spotted was the barrel shape…
