From October to February, sometimes into March, the West Texas skies in certain counties become a symphony of sandhill cranes. In southeast Terry County, this last week there were thousands of them. Music to my ears. They are magnificent birds. Enjoy!

In Place of Concrete Angels Were Sandhill Cranes
When I was searching for concrete angels at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison, Wisconsin I discovered two sandhill cranes foraging peacefully. I never found any angels to photograph but will gladly take any opportunity to photograph one of my favorite birds whom I’ve only seen in Texas and New Mexico.
