Remembering Mary

Remembering Mary

On a beautiful September evening, I came across this tombstone with the only inscription of “Mary”.  The simplicity of the gravestone is what caught my eye.  As I was kneeling to take this photo the sun was shining with an evening glow. Then my heart stopped when I heard what I describe as a loud “whomp, whomp, whomp, whomp, whomp.”

The sound was from a crow’s wings flying close over my head.  Then a crow feather from the bird dropped to the ground near this tombstone.  The crow finally ended up in trees about 500 yards away cawing endlessly.  While most people would look at this as a spooky, ghostly occurrence, I didn’t… It was a memorable moment for when I captured this photograph.
