To outsiders, the relationship between Manhattan antiquities assessor Annalisse Drury and sports car magnate Alec Zavos must look carefree and glamorous. In reality, it’s a love affair regularly punctuated by treasure hunting, high adventure, and the occasional dead body.
When Alec schedules a getaway trip to show Annalisse his mother’s Italian birthplace, he squeezes in the high-stakes business of divesting his family’s corporation. But things go terribly wrong as murder makes its familiar reappearance in their lives – and this time it’s Alec’s disgraced former CFO who’s the main suspect.
Accompanied by friend and detective Bill Drake, Annalisse and Alec find themselves embroiled in a behind-closed-doors conspiracy that threatens the reputation and legacy of Alec’s late father – linking him to embezzlement, extortion, and the dirty business of the Sicilian Mafia. The key to it all might be a gifted set of rosary beads where Annalisse can use her skills for appraising artifacts to uncover the truth. She leads Alec toward answers that are unthinkable—and events that will change their futures forever.
Scattered Legacy is the third in Marlene M. Bell’s thrilling Annalisse series, which weaves romance, crime, and historical mystery into addictive tales to instantly captivate fans of TV show Bones or Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code.

Transcontinental Wild Ride – My Book Review
“Where the senses fail us, reason must step in.”
Scattered Legacy by Marlene M. Bell is a transcontinental wild ride mystery in her Annalisse series. This gem is the third book in the Annalisse Series.
Scattered Legacy is another rapid little book to take you away from your own world for a weekend. Your problems will seem less than the main character of Annalisse.
Bell’s writing continues in this story with a conversational style that allowed me to immerse myself in the story completely. From there I was taken on another twisted, winding mystery story that spans two continents. I loved the history part of this story the most dealing with the old rosary and Galileo.
Stories are meant to take us away from our own lives this story continues in the far-fetched Alice in Wonderland way. This enigmatic story deals with a couple of murders and a cat, named Stella. Plus, the romantic side of the story of Alec and Annalisse. The ending is once again something I didn’t see coming and makes me go, “Okay, Marlene, when’s this story going to continue?”
Bell’s gift of these stories is that in the span of hours you can become so wrapped up in the mystery that you lose track of time.
This third series is another fast nonstop, who-done-it thrill-ride story that has romance, lots of family problems, and twists I never saw coming. I did not read the first book in the series. The second book I did. Like the second book, this third book can definitely stand alone. There are enough ties woven into this story that I was not lost and other readers will not be either.
