One of resilience and transformation, Conquergood’s life-changing discovery explores the depths of family, memory, love, and the mysteries that lie at the heart of the universe.
In 2183, Jerome Conquergood is an outcast roaming the abandoned and crumbling skyscrapers of Old York City outside the Korporation’s seductive and dizzying headquarters, a post-apocalyptic security-city for the mega-rich. Despite his hatred for the techno-optimism and the Korporation, Conquergood is compelled to save his mysterious twin brother Vincent by joining the Korporation, a mega-corporate and governmental entity in a world oppressed to peace.

  1. In my free time I enjoy smoking cigars on my balcony and relaxing alone at night after everyone has gone to bed. This time helps me to reflect and enjoy the moment and the hard day that I have had. There’s something extremely refreshing about a fine cigar.
  2. Some of my early inspiration (say around ten years old) for reading were detective novels, namely (and primarily) the C. Auguste Dupin detective stories by Edgar Allan Poe, and later the Sherlock Holmes detective stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. I bought and read the first edition of Gray Boy: A Story (1988) by Jim Arnosky, and the ending hit me hard and made me cry for the first time from a book, because one of my first dogs was a huge white beast named Shenandoah. It was then I knew the power of writing and of stories. I also bought and read the first edition of My Teacher is an Alien (1989) by Bruce Coville. The mystery and intrigue of the book captivated me and my young imagination, and I read that book cover to cover at least five times in a row. I realized then there are books out there that can really take a hold of you and not let you go. For me, that was one of those books.
  3. I love to study Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) with the GF Team (Grappling Fight Team). My amazing professor, from Brazil, is the great Thyago Garatina, a 2nd degree black belt. His professor is the two-time IBJJF World Champion and ten-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu National Champion — among many other spectacular accomplishments — Master Julio Cesar Pereira, an 8th degree red and black belt (which is the rare BJJ Coral Belt). I’m unworthy of them both.
  4. Favorite quote that hung over one of my first writing desks back in 2002.
