Everyone has the power to make their life a little better and thelp themselves as well as others”
Raise your hand if you ever heard of Silsbee, Texas. How many did? Silsbee is a small east Texas town once surrounded by a thick pine tree forest. Some of my family used to live there in a house with a fabulous wraparound porch. My bare feet never hardly left the grass while visiting.
Wildwood Healer, by author and friend, Linda Broday, transported me back to Silsbee where fireflies danced at night, the grass always felt luscious, and the people were down to earth. Linda’s writing transported me even further back to the Depression era when it was hard to breathe because one did not know where their next meal would be.
Wildwood Healer is a story about a strong woman who helped doctor the townsfolk with her native plant remedies. It is a story about the same resilient woman standing up for what was right no matter the cost. This story came alive with every turn of the page, making me feel nearly everything the characters experienced.
This is pure God-bestowed talent Linda has with her writing. Characters that come alive and craft an unforgettable story. Technically, stories are not supposed to make you cry. Wildwood Healer had me nasty crying at the end in its beautifully wrapped-up Epilogue.
I am truly amazed by Linda’s writing talents, especially with this is a true gem of a story in Wildwood Healer. If you love history stories set in Texas, then check out Wildwood Healer. If you love stories that inspire especially if you’re a woman, then this a must-add to your book reading list.

Christena, my goodness gracious! I did not know you even knew where Silsbee was. Wow! You have close ties to the town. I chose it because I needed somewhere deep in the Piney Woods for this story. I sure don’t know if I’ll ever get another character as sensitive and caring about her fellow man like Miss Sicily. She was really special. Thank you so much for liking this story. I’m so happy you read it and it fed your soul. Love you, lady.
