Whispers on the Wind – My Review
“Everything we have now is circumstantial. A half-way decent lawyer, and reasonable doubt is a given. We need something solid before we act.”
First, if any book has a dog in it and it survives – I love the book.
Second, if a book has ghosts or the hint of ghosts, then I will most likely be hooked.
Third, if a story has me shedding a few tears at the end – then it will get 5 stars or 5 paws given if Azrael, my dog, was with me at the end of reading the book.
A previously unknown author to me, Dana Wayne crafted a story that weaves ghosts, romance, Southern hospitality, a couple of murders, and a mystery that kept me guessing until the near end.
I’m normally not much on romance stories, but this story hit close to home on many personal levels with me. It’s a story that left me not wanting to put the book down. But more than that, it left me with an uplifting, heartwarming feeling after finishing it. Given all the bad in the world at the moment, especially after my last couple of weeks, Whispers on the Wind – was like a bright ray of sunshine in my life (no reference intended to the main character in this book.)
Dana’s writing is fresh, fast, and shows a unique, witty sense of humor. It’s hard writing humor that’s believable, and Dana does a great job. The main characters of Sam, Jack, Eva, and Cooper make this story come alive where you could see this story making it to the big screen down the road.
I’m left with this after reading Dana’s book: does the place Dana crafted in her story exist in the world where your dog would be welcomed at a B&B and that a small town welcomes you with open arms and you would move there without much contemplation? I can only hope, search, and seek.

The town I live in, less than 5K people, is like that. My husband has gotten cards from a traveling friend addressed simply with his name and our town – and he got it! I love being from a small town! And with all the B&B’s around I bet a little research will show you one who accepts pets!

What an awesome town. Part of my work is in Quanah and Crowell, Texas. I especially love Quanah. Guess you can tell I just want to get away with my, Azrael?

Wow! Thank you so much for this wonderful review! You will be happy to know that while Bakersville is a fictional place, it’s comprised of places just like it. Thank you again for taking the time to read and review my work.

You’re most welcomed, Dana. So there is hope that a B&B is out there that accepts dogs as guests and that a town exists that can certainly make you feel like you’ve found a new home.
