Escape From Wheel by author, Michael Scott Clifton, is the first fantasy book I have read in a long, long time. When my favorite authors ended their series, I moved onto other genres of books.
While this could be a stand-alone book in the Conquest of the Veil series, it did help me to read the synopsis of The Open Portal to get a better foundation in the story of Escape From Wheel.
Now onto the exceptional parts of this phenomenal book. It has magic, gargoyles, and flying horses, as well as young romance. Thrown in the mix are people who are fighting for good against the wicked people. Oh, there is a Cyclops and magic mirrors.
The magical brilliance of Clifton’s writing and imagination behind Escape From Wheel is how he creatively imagined putting a new spin on all these combined story elements. The story surrounds Alex who is betrothed to an evil guy. She escapes with Tell to escape her preplanned future and from that point on the story is nonstop action. What is brilliant about Escape From Wheel are the fresh takes on the cyclops and the gargoyles.
One of my favorite aspects of reading a book is reaching a point where I simply do not want to walk away from it or put it down. It is always a magical feeling when I become immersed in another world and Escape From Wheel became a book I did not want to put down and was a perfect escape. Fans of imitate plots, intrigue with mythical creatures, and magic will embrace this series.
Lastly, my most favorite aspect of reading a book is when will the next book follow. I am looking forward to reading the next one in the Conquest of the Veil series.
