When the long-awaited reunion between Risa and her brother, Trenton, ends in tragedy, Risa is riddled with guilt, unable to cope with the responsibility she feels over his death. On leave from the FBI, Risa returns to her former career as an English teacher at a local college, only to see her past and present collide when one of her students, Carson Mercury, turns in an assignment that reads like an eyewitness account of her brother’s murder, with details never revealed publicly.
Alarmed by Carson’s inside knowledge of Trenton’s death, Risa reaches out to her former partner at the FBI. Special Agent Gage Patterson has been working a string of baby kidnappings, but he agrees to help look into Carson’s background. Risa and Gage soon discover their cases might be connected as a string of high-value thefts have occurred at properties where security systems were installed by Carson’s stepfather and children have gone missing. There’s a far more sinister plot at play than they ever imagined, and innocent lives are in danger.

Facing the enemy 4

I love DiAnn Mills books for a multitude of reasons. First, her stories take readers on fast-paced wild rides that can often leave you breathless. Second, her storytelling keeps getting fantabulously better. Third, there is always a romance angle. Fourth, she is getting stellar at weaving her faith-centered life within the story.

Facing the Enemy is DiAnn’s latest fab book. It is a well-plotted, dynamic story about FBI agents Risa and Gage who are investigating human trafficking and kidnapping of babies. Like many of DiAnn’s stories, this one did not disappoint at keeping me engaged.  As always, she threw a few murders into the mix.

What I loved about this book and all of Diann’s books is her unique way of writing short chapters that speed the story along. She has a talent for bringing depth to each of the characters in this story.

If you love a fast-paced adventure Facing the Enemy will keep you engrossed until the very end. This book was another unputdownable satisfying read for me. This plot is amazing, yet it is reserved in its action this time around. This book concentrates more on the faith-based aspect and romance of the main characters of Risa and Gage. I must say DiAnn weaved the Christian faith storyline in perfectly for her readers in this book who may be struggling with their own faith.

I highly recommend Facing the Enemy. This is an easy weekend read that you will not be disappointed in. This Texas author is a fantabulous storyteller. Check out her books and be prepared for adventures and romance.
