This story is one that enveloped me in complete amazement. Author Thomas J. Nichols takes readers on a fictional tale regarding the story of Jesus. Incorporating a mix of historical facts and creative fiction, Nichols lays out this story about Jesus from his birth to his death.
But this story is much more.
This book surrounds Nur. Nur becomes Jesus’ older brother and is the central character in The Third Dawn: From Bethlehem to Golgotha. He is guided by divine intervention to find Joseph and Mary before the birth of Jesus. The Third Dawn follows Nur until the very end with Mary.
A quick read, this book gives readers interested in Jesus’ history and story a possible new perspective of his life from how he set out to travel to learn about the people he was saving and how his brother, Nur, paved the path for Mary to live out her final years.
I did learn a couple of things from Thomas’ book. Thanks, Thomas for introducing me to the term, vigneron, a person who cultivates grapes for winemaking and that eucalyptus trees actually do grow in the region where Jesus lived and walked. The other interesting aspect of reading this book was realizing that fish, lots of fish was a main staple of nearly everyone’s diet back then Loved the incorporation of the small dog in this book. The only major flaw I saw in this story is the non-mentioning of the spearing of Jesus during his crucifixion.
If you are looking for an inspirational story related to Jesus’ family during the time he was alive, then seriously check out this little gem The Third Dawn: From Bethlehem to Golgotha.
Thomas J. (Tom) Nichols’s law enforcement career ranged from patrol, detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief, and Chief of Police. spanning the era of the growth of the Mexican drug cartels and war on drugs. He has written seven novels and three short stories with themes of the border wars, espionage, international intrigue, and the supernatural.

Terrific review, and thanks for letting readers know that the character focus is more Nur than Jesus. I think for me, that makes it more enticing and keeps it in a more comfortable zone for fiction. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
