The Great Peanut Butter Conspiracy Book Description
The Texas hill town of Magnolia Bluff looms as a mere distraction for Bliss Jager when the new-to-her motorcycle breaks down under a banner publicizing the annual persimmon festival. Her other thought at the time: What in the world is a persimmon?
Only in town an hour, she’s offered pizza-for-life and a job at Doyle’s General Store. The job comes with two perks: a yellow throat toucan, which is odd enough, but add to that the ghost of Merrick Doyle and life takes a vociferously strange turn. The fatherly man is friendly and much loved and related to most everyone in town. Trouble is, he’s been dead a month. Townspeople think he died of natural causes, but he insists he was murdered.
Can Bliss expose the killer before people find out she’s been getting clues from a ghost, and um…a toucan? More important, can she find the killer before the killer finds her?
A toucan and a girl meet by coincidence. Life is forever changed for both of them.
The Great Peanut Butter Conspiracy: Magnolia Bluff Crime Chronicles is book #3 in this series. Author Cindy Davis created a fast-paced, unputdownable book about Bliss, a girl escaping her past.
As the story began I did not know where it was going with its initial pages. Then everything changed for the better when the ghost of Merrick entered the story. He asked Bliss to help find out who killed him. What ensues in the story is Bliss and Diablo, a toucan becoming endeared to one another, in the chaos of someone trying to murder Bliss, while she’s doing her best to uncover who murdered Merrick.
After being stranded in Magnolia Bluff after her bike breaks down, Bliss makes the best of her situation. She finds employment and a place to stay. Bliss’s sleuthing begins and is like a winding mountain road being driven at 75 mph. Hence the unputdownable aspect – who is out to keep their murderous deed secret by killing Bliss?
There are elements to the story that I wish had closure. Like how did Olivia know what Bliss wanted on her pizza? Somehow, I must try a serrano, mushroom, tomato, and hamburger pizza. That actually sounds yummo, than a standard pepperoni.
The Great Peanut Butter Conspiracy is a fab little book for a quick weekend read with its brisk plot and snappy dialogue.

An excellent review for an excellent book. A ghost, a toucan who supplies the protagonist with clues, and a fascinating town – Cindy supplies the crisp dialogue – and you have a great read. If you haven’t read it, drop what you’re doing and grab a copy. You won’t regret it.

Enjoyed the review. Cindy’s book makes for a wonderfully lighthearted relief from the darker moods of the first two books. I thoroughly enjoyed the read.

Thanks so much for your review of Peanut Butter. It was great fun adding to the MBCC series! Not sure where the question about toucans vs parrots arose. I missed that discussion. I’m not sure how I came about using the toucan–I think it had something to do with so many authors using cats. Diablo’s not a fan of them.

You’re welcome. Many of the reviews in GRs say 🦜. So that tells me they didn’t read your book!

What a fun read. Bliss stranded in a town until her motor scooter can be repaired and gets tangled up solving a mystery. Throw in an extra smart toucan (not a parrot) and some paranormal events and what’s not to like?

A murder mystery with a likeable if slightly unruly sleuth, pizza, a toucan, music and a ghost. What’s not to like? Cindy Davis is a bright clean stylist who writes engaging stories with a paranormal twist. This one is loads of fun.
